Why You Should Have Curtains in Your Home for Winter

With the colder season upon us, having the heating on all the time can seem very tempting but that would also come at a price. You may think the figure for heating your home is bound to skyrocket as winter comes.

At Aquarius Interiors, we have some tips to make sure you and your home will stay warm for a smaller cost this winter. Winter curtains are a great way to do this. But what type of winter curtains are right for your home?

Carry on reading our blog to find out and get some tips for keeping your home warm this winter:

How can I keep my home warm this winter with curtains?

Use thermal curtains to prevent heat loss.

With windows that are poorly insulated, it can be tricky to maintain a consistent and comfortable heat within the home. The heating could quite literally be going out the window as it can easily escape through the gaps of the seal in the window. Over time this will degrade.

Thermal curtains are a really great option to save on energy bills. The fabric is multi-layered and can help retain the warmth inside a room during the colder weather. Also, they have the advantage of looking more luxurious as they are much thicker and sit better than other curtains when fitted.

Thermal curtains are great for use all year round and are excellent for keeping the heat out of the house in the warmer months. This is great if you have pets as you don’t want the room to get too hot for them. Thermal curtains also have the benefit of blocking light out and are noise reducing.

Keep curtains opening during the day.

Let the sunlight in during the day by keeping your curtains open. Get as much of that free heat in your home as possible. Electric curtains are the best way to make sure your curtains open at the right time. They also save you the hassle of waking up early to open them.

After the night starts to draw in and it gets darker then shut the curtains and retain the heat in your home. Blackout curtains are the best way to ensure your rooms are completely dark during the night.

Get door curtains.

Rather than getting a draft excluder use door curtains for maximum coverage and to keep the cold air out. They also look super stylish and can spruce up the entrance to your home.

Even through draft excluders can get rid of those pesky drafts at the bottom of the door. Door curtains make sure all gaps are covered, they are the best way to keep your home even warmer this winter.

Keep your curtains shut at night.

To make the most of your heating make sure you shut your curtains before the heating goes off of an evening. By doing this you are retaining the warmth until the morning when the heating is switched back on. Floor-length curtains are the best for this. If you don’t want to buy new curtains consider a curtain liner as a cheaper option.
